SLEEPING BEAUTY 'KICKS OFF' WOLVERHAMPTON PANTO SEASON IN STYLE!

SLEEPING BEAUTY 'KICKS' OFF WOLVES PANTO SEASON IN STYLE!

Last night the Molineux Stadium had a fabulous injection of pantomime fun and frivolity as it played host to the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre's annual Pantomime Party.

Local press, VIP's, affiliates and friends of the Grand gathered along with the stars of this years pantomime 'Sleeping Beauty' - Lucy Evans (Coronation Street) and comedy female impersonator extraordinaire Ceri Dupree - for a hilarious evening of cabaret, pantomime penalty shoot-outs, prize draws and a glorious three-course dinner courtesy of the stadium's WV1 Bar and Restaurant.

Staff and guests threw themselves into the spirit of the season, kicking off events with a penalty shoot-out which featured a slew of hilarious pantomime staples including the obligatory dame and donkey, and umpired by none other than Lucy 'Sleeping Beauty' Evans herself.

Dupree, who will be playing Queen Passionella in the show, took to the stage for the evening's post-dinner cabaret act, bringing out a collection of his trademark impersonations from Zsa Zsa Gabor and Marlene Dietrich through to a hilarious yet surprisingly educational riff on 'Hello Dolly'. Dishing out a flurry of simply brilliant one liners ("I began as a waitress... at the last supper", "I've been married so many times my towell set reads 'hers' and 'to whom it may concern'") and fabulously judged characterisations and comedy, it was a witty, buoyant note to cap off a high-spirited, celebratory evening.

Evans and Dupree will be joined in 'Sleeping Beauty' by comedian, former King of the Jungle and national treasure Joe Pasquale, reprising his role as Muddles in the show when it arrives at the Grand next month, running from Saturday 7th December through to Saturday 18th January 2013.
