Righty, with only a few hours to go until the ceremony itself, I thought I'd post my complete list of predictions. I usually am fairly accurate, but with it being the Oscars anything can go, the Academy do love their surprises!
Anyhow, here's the complete list of who I think will win what:
BEST MOTION PICTURE OF THE YEAR: The Artist
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE: Jean Dujardin
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE: Viola Davis (I hope I'm wrong though, would love to see Meryl get her third)
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE: Christopher Plummer
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE: Octavia Spencer
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN DIRECTING: Michel Hazanavicius
BEST WRITING, ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: The Artist (contentious, I know - everybody else thinks this will go to Woody Allen for Midnight in Paris, and it probably will, but something in my bones says The Artist)
BEST WRITING, ADAPTED SCREENPLAY: The Descendants (or Moneyball, GAH! I'll stick with Descendants)
BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM OF THE YEAR: Rango
BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM OF THE YEAR: A Separation
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN CINEMATOGRAPHY: The Artist (again, logic would dictate The Tree of Life, and again it is probably what will actually deservedly win, but I just see a big night for The Artist coming up)
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN EDITING: The Artist
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN ART DIRECTION: Hugo
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN COSTUME DESIGN: W.E. (really far out choice, should probably put Jane Eyre as the Academy loves their period films in this category, but above all of that it'll probably still go to The Artist, but I'm sticking with W.E. as my 'huh?' vote haha)
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN MAKEUP: The Iron Lady
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN MUSIC, ORIGINAL SCORE: The Artist
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN MUSIC, ORIGINAL SONG: Man or Muppet
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN SOUND MIXING: Hugo
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN SOUND EDITING: Hugo
BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN VISUAL EFFECTS: Rise of the Planet of the Apes
BEST DOCUMENTARY, FEATURE: Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory
BEST DOCUMENTARY, SHORT: Saving Face
BEST SHORT FILM, ANIMATED: The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore
BEST SHORT FILM, LIVE ACTION: The Shore
Let's see how atrociously wrong I get them then....
